Busking in Chestnut HIll

Early this afternoon I came across this woman busking in front of Kilian Hardware in Chestnut Hill. She told me that she lost her office job of 24 years after new management took over. So she’s been playing electric keyboard on the streets and hoping for party jobs . “People walk past me all day and don’t even glance up,” she said. –KR

  1. She was the most lovely lady at the front of The Philadelphia Cricket Club. Look up people!! She’s lovely, kind and an amazing woman….she also, in ALL weather would take a bus to her job. many a day I would see her, waiting for her bus (when I was driving to my various stores for work) and I would offer her a ride, she would knew me and happily accept. She is such a cool wonderful woman!! I hope she gets a party job soon…or any for that matter. Thanks for sharing this lovely story.

  2. This is a poignant, beautiful portrait. I hope people start hearing, look up and acknowledge her indomitable spirit, spunk and contribution to the world they’re walking through. Are people at least putting money in a hat for her? Thanks to Stacia, also, for her insight. What a remarkable woman!
